Submersible Pump Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a heavy-duty submersible pump that I could use for a return pump?

I'm going to have significant headloss (approx 10-15ft) on my new setup, and my current Quite One 3000 just isn't going to cut it anymore. I want something that can really move some water.

I plan to have a ball valve on my return line, so the pump has to be designed to allow me to dial it back without compromising life expectancy.

Thanks!

Ocean- runner's add quite alot of heat in my experience Danner magdrives have worked for me for 4 years on one tank and 3 years on my 150, never a problem

The large Mags are about your only choice. I hope your system is going to be big because they are very big pumps, not very energy efficient and will create lots of heat in the water. I would recommend an external higher head pump for your system they are better designed for conditions like that.

Reeflo now makes their pumps with cheap seals that start leaking in about six months and the motor looses power in less than a year .They USED to make very good pumps. And we used to use them on all our tanks, never again.

I would have said eheim, but I dont think they make one that's enough flow for your application. I'd buy a magdrive, I've used them often in the past.

Ended up getting a magdrive 3600GPH. Should provide sufficient flow with the headloss I'm expecting.

Thanks for all the help!

I know I sounded like I have a reasentment at reeflo but on my tank at home 2 darts failed in less than 1 year and at work a barracuda ,a snapper ,and a 6 darts failed in approximately one year. We switched over to red dragons they are powerful ,silent , effecient ,and expensive but well worth the money
