Does anyone have a strong sub in the same room as a fish tank? It may not be underneath, but nearby? As low freq seems to affect the whole room, i wonder what the affects of it are....

its fine
insulate the sub/under the tank, to force all virbration/sound out of the cabinet.
usually hte car audio stores sell the insulating material, I would run that below the tank, not to prevent from breaking [your windows and T5s/MH would explode first.] but to force the sound out. lowering vibration for fish ...
PS. there is alot of vibration noise in oceans, no ?
A lot of people in this thread need to learn how to answer a question without attacking the OP. thank you todd, this is my only complaint with this forum
And people posting on public forums need to have thick enough skin to handle the public nature of said public forum.
First, this isn't a public forum, but a private one.

You dont want a sub in the corner ne ways.
Can't make a blanket statement like that. In some cases it will cause issues, and standing waves, but in other cases it can/will vastly improve the performance.
Ok, now I am truly curious as to the right answer here.
Let's forget about shattering the tank with ultra-low frequencies. We've established that it's not going to happen. You'll likely blow your eardrums first.
We've established that the biggest risk is dripping water on the sub, or, heaven forbid, an actual flow of water. I have a 12" Velodyne, and that sucker ain't cheap. OP seems to be willing to take that risk. Maybe custom design a waterproof cabinet that channels any water away or something.
How about livestock? I know my Naso turns pale and develops leopard spots with any loud noise on the cabinet, and all the fish scurry for cover. Coral? Polyp extension? Zoas closing up? I don't know, since my tank is down in a nicely soundproof basement, and my entertainment room is upstairs. What I do know is I am a Sci-Fi and action movie buff, and I've rattled things off shelves and collapsed folding tables when I get a little carried away. What do the people who actually have a coral reef tank in a LOUD entertainment area think?
