success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FLAKES?????? I want video!!!! That's is so uncommon you are probably the first to do this. So we can put your name in the history books we will need video verification.

How can you make a video? Need a video camera then hook it up to the computer, photobucket has a spot to upload pictures and also able to upload videos I think.

I didn't know that was rare, don't know much about any butterflies, so nice job!

If you can figure out how to get a copperband to eat flake food, surely you can figure out how to post a video, I can't do either

Why would you say that?

Granted I feed various food flake, pellets, frozen mysis, frozen brine, and so on. I still feed flake (different kinds like cyclop-eeze flake and various Ocean Nutrition flake food).

waterfaller1,
I was going to ask how nutritious flake was. I just got a Regal angel eating. Tried everything to get him to eat but he wouldn't touch anything for two days. I was running out of things to try when I threw some OSI flake food in and he went crazy for it. Now that he has learned to eat from the water column he eats all kinds of frozen food as well as the flake. So why do you say that it's worthless? Do you know something I don't?
Thanks,
Ken

I had one that ate doromarin in college. This was my first copperband and it seemed like an easy fish to me. Little did I know that I got super lucky.

Flake food is hardly worthless. Flake and pellets are a great way to indroduce spirulina, protein, vitamins (soaking), fatty acids (soaking), garlic, etc. I feed 70% or more pellets and flake.

Flake is ok if the first 3-4 ingredients are NOT land based vegetable's or grains. If it is a top quality flake all the ingredients will be marine based with only minor amounts of wheat gluten or other fillers that add protein. Most are garbage but there are a few very good brands out there.

As jda said there is no better way of getting healthy additives into the fish's gut.

Flake food is useless for marine fish.:(

Not at all. Some flake and pellet are the by far the most complete nutritionally.

It can be a messy way to feed though and I make sure all is consumed to avoid adding phosphates etc.. All my fish love it and I think of it as a "treat" for them

I agree. most of my fishes diet consist of flake food, I also try to feed other types however I will always have a base of pellets/flakes to feed them.

BTW I didn't know that a copper band butterfly was a hard fish to get eating... I guess there are some lucky people in my area cause I know 4 people that didn't have an issue with theirs.

i notice so many people talking about how great some foods are while others are garbage. well how about some examples with brand names and such? never have i seen a post where the poster writes the exact name of the product that is supposedly so great.

well give us the names guys! promote that brand that has all these great ingredients listed first!

well tell us which ones are the best!

The whole line of pellets from New Life Spectrum are about as good as it gets and I also have pellets and flakes from Ocean Nutrition, my fish especially love the Prime Reef flakes from ON. I have found these flakes get the pickiest fish eating.

IMO if you get your fish eating New Life Spectrum pellets your are set.

I would have more, but I kept my tank to fish with similar diets, with no real herbivores. I had a whole range of spirulina/veggie based foods on my cichlid tanks, to long to list.
