Suction Cup Caulerpa

Has anyone had any experience with this algae? I had a little strand of it that I got from the LFS because I thought it would look nice in the display tank. Well ever since I got the 150 watt MH that bad boy is litterally growing inches overnight! How do you prune this sucker? Scissors? Knife? by hand? Any help would be greatly apprecieated. I think it ate my cat too....oh never mind there's Mary...lol

I usually trim mine by just pulling some out. Hopefully its growing someplace that you want it to, cause if you decide it needs to go it can be really tough to get rid of.

it is hard to completely eradicate, so be warned, otherwise, yes, simply pull out to prune by hand

Thank you for the replies. I have actually "trained" it to grow in the direction I want. It was getting dangerously close to my table acro and I just manually moved the stem to a different rock and away it went in the other direction almost overnight! This stuff is crazy!

be sure to keep it pruned, otherwise without warning if some nutrient becomes limited, then it may turn to sexual reproduction and possibly take out something in your tank, FYI
