Suggestion for a future BAR workshop

I think there was a DIY calcium reactor workshop once, but how about a "how to setup a Ca Reactor correctly" workshop?

I'm sure it's really confusing for newbies, even for people who've been researching it. I've been looking into getting a Ca Reactor setup for months (who's in line for this?) but I think it'd be helpful for me and probably some others if we got a Ca reactor setup workshop. Maybe combine it with a Ozone setup workshop, UV, etc...

Anybody think that it might be useful?

It's not a bad idea, but a little difficult in my opinion.

Here is my reasoning...

Everyone has a different calcium reactor which can be/need be dialed in differently than the last person. I will have a feed line coming via siphon probably from an overflow box, but the next person may want to use a small powerhead to siphon the water to the reactor.

i was thinking more about tuning a Ca reactor, like how to know what to do depending on your pH readings and such. basics rather than how to setup a specific Ca reactor.

Like I know it takes a bit of tuning, looking at your bubble counter, using a pH controller, and such? I know people take logs as well to keep track, perhaps this might be too little for an entire workshop.

Well, maybe we could do an online hardware HOW-TO for your topic(s). Kind of like the various Linux ones.

People could chime in with some tips and pointers to useful urls?

I have a really good instruction sheet on how to set up a CA reactor. It is way better than any directions I have ever read. It was made by a RC guy that goes by KC. I also have a few web archives that do a lot of the math for you. Makes it really easy. If anyone wants to put on the talk, let me know and I will get you th info. I have set up a few reactors, so I might be able to help, but I am not expert on it.

Just to interject here, there's a lot of fabulous ideas for what people want for BAR meetings, however with no leadership to pull these ideas together (see BAR elections thread) none of them are going to happen.

So far we have people willing to be President & Treasurer, VP is missing which is the person who gets the meetings going, and Secretary (which I think Mark looked absolutely fabulous in a dress and thigh high stockings).

well, we should still brainstorm anyways so that when someone is able to step up, then we'll have a wealth of information. because the structure doesn't exist yet doesn't mean we can plan with what we have right here =)

i'd go for secretary but i hate stockings... =X
