Tiki I like that second one better, nice cabinet

Jason, the rimless is realy cool, I saw a nice square one 48"x48" that is swwwweet :D Starphire is cool, but its easy to scratch not as bad as acrylic though

Tom, never knew that about starphire. But then again I only know one person with a starphire tank and it was like looking at tank top down. Where did you see a cube 48x48? Thats bad a** to see something that big.

I saw it at Trevor he bought some frags from me and since I was in the area, I drop by to deliver them. Love that tank. If I ever get a bigger house I would like to have solar on the roof to support a 48" X 96" rim less tank the size of my current coffee table :D

I bought the cherry finished one! I picked up the stand and canopy yesterday and I am picking up the tank on saturday!

alrighty, Now that I have this new tank, I want to set it up slowly and properly!
Any suggestions on sump and water movement for this guy? I have the 1200gph pump from my current setup and 2 Seio M2600 power heads. I am going to use 2 of my 3 Lumenarc reflectors and I am going to cut holes in the top of the canopy like Tom did on his 210g. I still have my OM super squirt compact sitting around that I am not using, maybe set up as a closed loop? One other question was should I run a RDSB in the refugium and go bare bottom?

Personally I wouldn't do close loop. Use your squirt on the return pump

the two seio may not be enough and they are problematic, you might want to get a couple of MJ1200 and run the sureflow mod kits.

Bare bottom is a good option but you won't get any light reflecting back from the white sand. But that is just a personal preference. I personally like sand for the buffering property.

2 luminarc running 250 watt or 175 ?

Get a nice open sump so you can have a nice skimmer and other things

my Lumenarcs are 250 watt. I was thinking building my own sump but I am not sure on the design. I have room in the stand for a a 36" long by 23" deep sump and that will leave a 1 foot area on the side for a calcium reactor in the future. How would you design it so I would have the largest possible refugium, and return area so that i can go a couple of days without topping off?

You can look at Jeff's sump his is pretty nice. Mine is just a rectangular tank that is wide open so I can build modular units like a filter sock box and drop it inside it with out having to worry about baffles getting in the way. I hate baffles

As for water top off I am using a kent float valve and have a fresh water reservoir connect to it so I can go on a two weeks vacation with no problem. The only thing you have to worry about this method is never have a drain in your skimmer cup to a container outside the sump since your skimmer can go crazy and drain into the container forcing the floatwalve to drain fresh water into the sump and overflow your sump and lower your salinity.
