Suggestions please on PH adjusting

I thought of a way to run fresh air to my skimmer . I can run the hose inside the wall, thru the attic to the outside, but it is appx 40-50ft. That seems extreme...will it work at that length?
Seems that it would slow down my bubble production at that length.

If i were to open the house windows and doors to air out the house for an hour or two. How often is this done as a maintenance? Is it something that has to be done every month? It can get expensive in the summer months. As it is, we are always openning doors to the outside for our dogs and kids.

Does not sound to practical to me. You'd have to have an air pump on your roof. Do you have a basement ?

As info, when I open my house up it takes a good half day to clear out enough CO2 to affect my pH. And when I close the house back up it just drops again.

thanks for the heads up on the openning the window deal!

No basements for the most part here in florida unfortunately.

If nothing else, I was thinking of running the skimmer line to outside the cabinet to at least get fresher air.

As far as your ORP, when is the last time you cleaned your probe ?

I doubt the CO2 issue is related to the ORP drop.

You don't need a pump on the roof :D. There are in-house pumps that will pull air into the house, as in vacum pump, not pressure pump. A guy here a month did this and it works great.

CO2 is indirectly realated to CO2 kinda'. CO2 lowers pH and lower pH means higher ORP.

A friend do mine just did what Billy mentioned on opening windows and with a fan/my advice. Worked great, only thing is we live in Northern Minnesota so having a window open is not an issue. Right now it is 69F outside.

Pump example; same pump only two models, pressure and vacum

I cleaned the probe 2 days ago, but this time not with vinegar as i was out...try cleaning it again tomorrow with vinegar and see what happens.

Boomer thanks for the link...Where do you put the pump? You did say vacuum not pressure, right? Do i just run a hose to the outside to feed the pump? This is new to me!

Yes, all the pump needs is a feed line form the outside, which attaches to the pump. The pump will suck in air from the outside on its inlet line and blow air out at its outlet line. The outlet goes to where ever, like any air pump i e., skimmer, airstones etc..

Yes, vacuum not pressure. If you had a pressure pump it would have to be outside, as it pushed air through the line rather than sucking the air through the line like a vacuum pump

Put the pump near your aquarium.

When or if you buy a pump make sure you tell them want it is for and how you are going to hook it up, so there is no confusion.

A final note.

Vacuum pump lines need to go down hill and not up hill. The biggest vacum pump in the world can not suck any higher than 32 ft high. Meaning, pump is 32 ft high and suction line runs down to ground level.

So, i can run a hose up to the attack vent and have the pump near the aquarium and that would be fine! right?

What is a wife ? I don' think I have one of those. Are they good or bad  Can I buy one somewhere ? How much do they cost ? Lots or really cheap ? Can I find one for free ? Is a used one OK ? What kind should I be looking for ?
