Sulfur reactor damage

I damaged a fitting on a denitrifying sulfur reactor and I dont know how to save/preserve the sulfur media. I wont be able to do anything about it for about 6 days and I dont want any unwanted biological activity on the sulfur. I should have asked here first( I probably should have tryed to preserve in tank water), but I already dumped the sulfur into a 5 gal bucket and rinsed with di. It was up and running for about 8 months with good biological action and I know the batceria colony is dead and decaying. But I dont know what to do with the media so I can reuse it?????

I think all you need to do is rinse it off with RO or salt water before you use it again. I used to clean mine out that way every few months with no problems.

i left mine off for 1 yr (dry) dont leave it wet, then once ready for running it again, rinse in ro/di water and let it cycle for 1 to 2 months as slow drip rate then increase the rate accordingly.
