Sulphur Calcium Reactor

Dear All,

My dealer has recommended a Sulfur Calcium Reactor, saying I won't need a CO2 reactor. He's recommended a packaged unit (Aqua-Macro Nitrate Reductor&Calcium Reactor MBE-306).

It's very affordable and seems like a simple solution where other systems are so technical..... is it too good to be true?

Thanks.

wel.. it is, and it isnt..
the sulphur in the nitrate reactor will lower your no3, wich a big chance of getting 0.00 no3 from the effluent line..

the problem is.. it will be low ph, to combat the low ph, the calcium reactor comes in to play.

it wil raise the ph, and will give u basically the same as it would from a calcium reactor...

2 things:
1: u can only control the flow, so u cant (like a calcium reactor) control the ph in the reactor, so what u can do is play with the flow, but not much more tuning..
2: this is only doable with smaller tank, or tanks with less consuming corals..

if u want a caco2 reactor, dont buy this combo.. just buy a calcium reactor + co2+regulator+dosing pump+ph controller.

if u dont want this.. buy a marine magic doser and dose on.. still the best solution in my opinion
