Sump bulkhead heights?

Hi, just wondering if there is a forumula or something that determines the height that I need to make my bulkheads in a 20 gallon long sump. I have a SCA-301 which is rated for 65 gallons. My display is a 40 gallon breeder.

Thanks

I think you mean baffles. Bulkheads typically refer to the fitting you install into a tank to connect to plumbing.

Baffle height depends a lot on the height you run your skimmer. Research it and see what water level is recommended. Your first baffle should be at least that tall, you can always raise the skimmer if you make the baffles taller.

After the first, I prefer a 1/4" - 1/2" drop for each successive baffle as this helps with surface renewal.

Yes, sorry, its baffles. As you can see, I am very new to this and the terminology.
Thanks for that by the way.
I used to build boats, and bulkheads are what we called the walls between each opening. My bad...

As high as possible while still allowing sufficient space for "back flow" when the power is lost.
Skimmers can always be raised..
