sump, center brace removal

should I be relatively safe to remove the center brace on a say 55/75 gallon tank after adding baffles. I'm wanting to have the center 2' to be the refugium. The baffles will be made of the same glass from another of their 75,s that has a slight leek on its fist leek test. I'm also thinking of reusing the trim to clean up the look a little. One baffle will be an over, under, over leading to the refugium, from there it would be an over, under to the return. Each over would be 1" from the bottom and span all the way to the top.

I did something similar years ago and it was fine. The baffles function as a cross brace and most of the time the sump is only party filled.

If you are keeping the tank for few years, I wouldn't do that. It is risky to remove any of the braces for any tank thats not rimless.
