Sump drain question

im building a 75g sump for my 300g FOWLR i have a question about having a drain connected to the sump for ease of waer changes. I am connecting a Reeflow Snapper pump as my return so obviously there is a 1 1/2 in bulkhead near the bottom side of tank. Now can i just T off a ball valve with a 90 going into the drain so when i want to empty water i just turn the ball valve. Or is it bad to have that connected to the same like as the pump? Do i need to drill a whole seperate bulkhead for the drain? ANyone have pictures of a drain setup on there sump?

How about a T off the drain pipe from the DT, with a valve? That way the water hitting the valve would be under little pressure, perhaps making accidents less likely? Also, this might make your waste water hose begin a little higher up, facilitating the waste water's run to the sink or floor drain.

I just teed off my return manifold - connect an old garden hose to it with quick disconnects to it, turn 2 valves, and make sure the hose is in the sink. (don't ask)
