Sump idea

Has anyone used a hard plastic pond liner for a sump refug area? They make hard plastic pre formed pond liners that are about 145 gallons and have high and low areas in them that i think could be used as a refug, frag, sump areas all in one. Any one seen this used before?

I've been considering a sealed, plywood structure with a pond liner. The hard preformed liner should hold up well, they are tough as nails. I've installed a few and you can't break'em.

I would not use one for a lite frag tank with MH lights. I would fear that the light would break down the plastic.
Also those forms are ment to be supported by the ground and are not free standing like a stock tub.
But the two levels would be nice.

I have to think they can hold up to MH as they with stand years of sun light. Direct heat is certainly an issue. I have installed a few of these as ponds and they are tough! Several pond dealers around here will just set them on the ground and fill'em with water to display plants and fish. As a material, I think it could work but you'll have to be careful not to melt it. Also shapes may be limited for your application.
