Sump Idea

I just don't c the risk Vers reward working out here. No reward at all for using canister filters. Filter socks for macanical and some brs media reactors for what ever chemical filtration u want to do. No flood to worry about ever. Can u explain what the benefits r to the canisters over what I suggested?

All I see is risk.

I almost trust a canister with a float valve just as much as a continuous siphon.

The tank is tempered or you don't want risk drilling the tank?

IMO over complicating things will run you out of this hobby faster than anything. Spending a little extra $ so you can focus more on the livestock is my preference. i'm not saying you have to dump a ton of cash; my skimmer is made out of a reefcrystals bucket.

I almost think it would be cheaper, easier, less of a headache to find a used tank and just drill it. I'm all for thinking out of the box but sometimes it just doesn't seem logical.

ok gotcha I saw a 90 gallon on craigslist with a drilled overflow and a 20 gallon sump for only $100! To bad by the time I called it was already gone. Ill just keep my eyes out for another deal like that.
