Sump mods

OK so I did some modifying of the sump last night since It is not being used due to the pump and heat issue I have experienced. I wanted to create an area that can help eliminate the micro bubbles put out by the skimmer and the tank itself. I did all of this with a sawzall since the jigsaw is missing since the move. I had it all done when we finally found it. either way, I got pretty good with that sawzall.

water enters from the tank into the small 10 gallon. it is roughly the same height as the area where it sits. the skimmer will most likely reside in that basis for the time being. once I build my work bench, it will reside on top of the bench for easier access. but for now, this will work. im putting a 1 1/2" bulkhead in that bin and was planning on plumbing it down into the far corner of the first sumparea. the water will travel around the 10g then thru the bubbletrap and then around the basin to the drain.

Looks like my RDSB has a new function, It cleaned up pretty nice. On another note, It may be just as cost effective to just run a room AC unit to cool your Garage some and forgo the Chiller. Just another option to throw into the mix. I know my garage used to get 120 degrees plus in the heat of summertime, And the Chiller actually added to the heat kinda like a vicious cycle. Chiller cools water and heats up garage more so warter gets hotter then chiller runs more and so on. That's why I finally built a seperate room and ran AC to it. JMO

Yea, ive thought about that too bill. jsut didnt want to have the AC hanging out the window ya know.... the cieling in the garage is 20 foot and is a 2 car garage with 4-5 foot on each side of the door opening. its a good sized garage.

yea that container cleaned up very well. I have a drill attachment that has a bunch of nylon cords on it like a wheel brush. took the stuff right off it.

My Neibhor enclosed his garage and uses it for living space and he has some kind of free standing unit that works very well in cooling his garage. It according to him is cheap to run and keeps it very cool, I think he got it at Lowe's if i'm not mistaken. Plus it was pretty cheap as I remember too.

yes, ive seen those.. not sure how well insulated teh garage is, but I know the door has insulation on it. Ill likely do that down the road, but as for now, ill keep on keeping on.

+1 on the AC in the garage, I had this before I moved to the south and with an attached garage you get a little break depending on how well your entry into the house is insulated. Not a huge savings really but the house AC may run less often if the garage space is cool and not transfering heat to the walls and the "bonus room". Your would really only need to keep it at about 78-80 I would think not as cool as your house for sure.
