Sump Return\avoiding flood question

I have to disagree. The U Tube should never have air accumulation. Never. Drilling a hole in the U Tube introduces an air leak which is the worst thing you can do to a siphon.

The Lifereef is worth every penny. People including myself have them running for years on end without the slightest problem.

I do agree about keeping the U tube clean. I clean mine out every 3 months or so which is a simple operation.

Yes that much I've gotten. I was just unsure about the true inner workings of the overflow box. But now we have unlocked its true secrets :)

let me ask your opinion.. if my sump is split in 3 with baffles..
what do you think of
return\skimmer | refugium | intake from tank

I am not sure the best order to set those up but this I think is the most common configuration?

I've used alot of different configurations, but my last sump I built, I like best.
The water comes down from the tank on one end and in this area I have my skimmer. I have 3 baffles, and then the area for the refugium, with 2 more baffles and then the area for the return pumps.
