Sump without bubble traps?

I'm going to be rebuilding my sump and was thinking of removing the extra baffles used for bubble traps. I've never really had much problem with bubbles in my sump and they just seem to use extra space.

Does anyone else run a sump without a bubble trap and have you experienced any problems?

Of course. With a bubble free drain system (get away from dursos,) a properly adjusted skimmer (quality skimmer,) keeping section water falls under ~ 1", and appropriate width for the flow rate, there are no bubbles. It is good design, it does not happen by accident, however.

Don't know the math, but depending on the size of your sump one thing to consider is how much evaporation will occur before your ATO kicks in.

Yup - I'm converting my tank to a C2C with a bean animal system at the same time, so there shouldn't be any bubbles from the drain. Main problem is my skimmer. I've modified the output so it doesn't create so many bubbles, but it's pretty big, so it eats up a lot of room in my sump (hence the need to save space)

This shouldn't be an issue - return pump chamber is going to be about 6.5-7 gallons. It's about 15% bigger than my current return chamber and my Tunze ATO usually kicks in about every 150 - 200 ml now, so I doubt it will be enough to matter.
