Sun System Reflectors

I was unable to delete my post, after I realized you said Sun Systems rather than Sunlight Supply.

From my own research, it appears that the Sun Systems reflectors are much more engineered for the horticulture industry, and therefore will generally have a different directional output. I had a pair of generic horticulture reflectors for exactly 1 week, then I switched over to a pair of the Sunlight Supply LumenMax-2's, and couldn't possibly be happier... In fact, I gauged far better LUX readings at a deeper level with my LumenMax-2's and 175w 20k Spectrum Specialists bulbs & ballasts, than my buddy did at a shallower depth with his 250w Phoenix 14k's and PFO-Mini's.

Just something to consider. ;)

I'm still trying to figure that one out.

It's a circle-jerk with many of the Admins, and I hurt the feelings of a couple folks (ButtScraper & QueenB) that happen to be FRIENDS of an Admin, so I was banned... Again!

Some of the other Mod/Admins were completely against it, but as I said, it's run with a circle-jerk mentality.

BTW: If you haven't already done so, you should check out our reef club -- www.nea-reefkeeping.com

I have used a ton of horticultur hoods not for reef tanks and there not all = by any means. i dont see why it would not work. im going to use them for my tank I allerady have them. My thoughts on the above post is that it was a "generic" u get what u pay for.... out of the horticultur hoods my fav is the hydrofarm daystar I have not been impressed from any sunsystems

I would just drop the coin to go ahead and get the LumenMax-2's or even a pair of the larger Lumenarcs, because these reflectors simply can't be beat!

LumenMax engineered for the horticulture industry?

Reflector dose one thing.....Reflect light rather it be for "reef" or "horticulture" it still dose the samething....now there is reflectors that are for reflecting color temp (K)
as i stated befor for horticulture the daystar 6 AC(engineered for hps) & the Hydrofarm Radiant 6 AC (engineered for Metal Halide) and is what i will be using. i would love to see a side by side with a few Reflector

anything can be beat :)

iv never have used a LumenMax so i cant speak for it

but for Sun System my experince in horticulture use i do not recamend

Sanjay posted a study of reflectors that shows the Lumanarc and LumenMax to be the best of the best.

Here's a pic of one of my LumenMax-2's...

Sanjay tested the lumanmax & lumanarc vs crapy reflectors. All reflectors in the reef hobbie are old engineerrd plant reflector.I sell hydroponic gear and have been useing HID lighting for 15years.The lumanarc was a old reflector by diamend lighting which was a hydroponic company back in the days.there are many companys that have very high end reflectors that the reef hobbie doas not know about.PL,Hydrofarm and SLS ect.PL even makes reflectors that are costam made for a type of light out put you want, from 180 to 360.I do like the lumanmax reflector, thats what i use,but they are engineerd from plant reflectors. The "new" lumanbright is engineerd from old pareabolic reflectors, they just made them smaller.

pl makes the best hood there is.....

there so damn spendy i have not had a chance to run them but have seen them in action... if i had the flow thats what i would roll..
