"sunburst" anemone = Entacmaea quadricolor "bubble tip anemone", correct?
Reefer1 can I ask who or where you got your sunburst from?
Are you propagating other nems in the same tank?
I have been cutting and growing my sunbursts out for 3 years now and when you get alot more I wouldnt have two different BTA in the same tank.
I am,I haven't had a problem with it in the 2 years I've been doing it.I am setting my old biocube hqi up just for my bta's but I'm curious have you had a problem keeping multiple color morphs of a Bta together?
(still under 150w metal halide one set is in my 90g reef and the other is in a biocube hqi with 10k bulb I set up just for propagation.)What light do you have them under now?
(2 months )How long in between cuts?
(little bigger than a baseball)How big are they when you cut them?
(that's alot ,most likely to many free floating stinging cells and toxins, after cuts I noticed bubble tips get alot more aggressive, defensive and more potent( releasing stronger toxins) also constant cutting or to frequently cut will cause slow growth or to dwarf .I had what I think is slow growth when I had another bubble tip in my system. I only experienced this after I did one of my largest splits of 7-10 sunbursts at one time
(well I don't think Color morphs would cause a problem since there all the same anemone just a morphed color.hell I have frags I mad of 2 different color monti caps that have grown into one, same with different birdnest I've put on one Frag, the difference in them is only the alage that gives them there color unless different species)I also think it has a direct collation with the number I split and having one that wasnt part of this strain in my system.
(around 4 at time but I rinse the cuts for 30 mins in tank water and run double chem pure/carbon and high flow to remove the stinging cells and slime also 10%water change the next dayI know I have read others that say the same thing on here that you dont run into problems till you get into larger numbers. I dont know how many your splitting at once.
they are looking good. how often are you feeding them... if any at all?![]()
