Sunburst Anthias

I have a Sunburst in my Reef Tank. How do I get it out without having to use a tiny hook...lol. But seriously, they hide in the rocks all the time and only come out for a few seconds to feed, then go back and hide. Its going to be almost impossible to catch while feeding and are shy when anyone stands infront of the tank. Anyone knows about any type of fish trap or have any suggestions??? Thanks!

Why would you want to get such a beautiful fish out of your tank?

If the rock in which it hides is easily accesible, you can remove the rock while the fish is in it and place it in a bucket of salted water. Just be very quick about it. One thing that has worked for me is to start feeding them with a net. Put food in the net and wait until the fish comes into the net and then scoop it out. Using this method will require a lot of patience. Put some food in the net and leave it in the tank and let the fish eat out of it. Do this several times to get the fish used to the net. Once the fish feels secure and comes and eats out of the net then you can scoop it out without any problems. I have used this method to catch many damsels, tangs, and angels.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Need to move the fish (both of them) into another tank.
