Sunburst BTA

I got the anemone about 8 weeks ago, it was displayed on my LFS with led lighting heavy on the blue side. The color it had while at the LFS was a very very bright orange color with some yellow and green to it.

The anemone did loose some color and fluorescence the first 4 to 6 weeks while it was acclimating in my tank looking for a good spot to stay on.

The last 2 weeks it has settled in the top of my rock structure, looks like it stopped loosing color and its it starting to regain it.

Its about 12" to 14" in diameter when fully extended.

The tank is a 400g 72x36x36 with 4 Hydras with the blues at 45%, the whites at 30%

Here are a couple of pics

Well today something happened, it looked like it started to split, it attached part of its body to a corner of the rock and the rest of the body to another corner, it was stretched a lot, its mouth started to come inside out a little bit.

I had a chance to take a single pic when it was stretching out, then I had to go out to take the kids for brunch, when I got back the anemone was completely deflated instead of being 12" wide it was 2" wide.

Now that the lights are going out its barely starting to inflate back but I cannot tell if it splited or not, it still looks like a single anemone, but its almost lights out on my hydras and since it hasnt inflated back up 100% is really hard to tell.

I wouldn't worry too much, mine went from this:

to this:

(it also split around the same time)

Yes it is splitting....congrats. Before you know you will have 10 in your tank. Mine has split a month ago.

I want a sunburst so badly , but it is not available here in Asia. Sunburst are from Colorado .

Well after a couple of days with my Sunburst not looking good (deflated to 50% of its size) it started to split again, looks like this time it will split for sure, the last time it started splitting the base never ripped apart, it just streched too much but nothing happened in the end"¦

Here are some pics of how it started stretching from the base and then it started ripping apart front the base to the mouth, it hasn't finished splitting, lets just hope it goes well"¦

Well this morning during lights out (just sunlight trough the windows) I found two anemones:bounce1::bounce1::bounce1: they look very inflated and well attached, one is facing the front side of the tank and the other the rear side of the tank.

Some update pics

One of the clones stayed on top of the rock structure and the other clone decided to go under a cliff on the shade, it stayed there for around 8 days, I started getting worried that it would maybe start bleaching, but both are finally out looking for light.

The mouths look like they are almost completely closed, maybe they already are but I can't tell real well...

Very beautiful anemones! It is always interesting seeing the huge color change with lighting. Thanks for sharing!
