Sunlit Picos

agreed with dendro on the two main problems. fans and such weren't enough for me, i ended up using a floor fan (20" or so) upgrading from my clip-on deskfan. i just ran it 24/7 and let the heater fight it out to maintain a suitable temp range.

i didn't supplement on cloudy days though and i was surprised not to see light shock after 3~4 cloudy days and then blaring sun. i don't think that really occurs in the tropics so i figured the corals were in for a rough ride. but thankfully, they seemed to adjust just fine to the varying days.

the other good thing about sunlit tanks is that i had true moonlight.

the bad things are like dendro noted. the positioning of the tank was probably the most difficult. being pointed away from "normal" viewing, made enjoying the tank very difficult. one of the reasons i finally tore it down.

i think a taller tank and different setup is something i'll be looking into in the future. the front pane is more critical (from a window perspective) than the normal vertical aspect since the light comes from an angle.

i'm reposting my low-res pic. (it came as a hyperlink by accident last time for some reason, sorry).

Your tank was always an inspiration for me, Tiny.
