Just purchaes and waiting for it to be shipped to my house. I got the 36'' version. It has 2 150 watt 14k halides and 9 leds. Has anyone been using these lights and how do they perform.

That is who I just bought it from, Catalog came in the mail and you can not beat the sale price on them. Plus they come with a timer, legs and some models even come with a hanging kit. I think you are getting alot of light for the buck. I also like the INTERNAL Electronic Ballast for the lights. The hammertone reflectors add a nice touch also. Plus you can program all the leds.

Does anyone own a set of these?

i have one on my 65g and like it much more than my previous t5 set up. but if i money was not a factor i would have retored 2 xm 10ks with vho actinics.

Spoke with another guy on a different forum, He purchased the 60'' model with 3 x 150 halides and he called the company and complained he did not like how blue 14k bulbs where, and the company sent him 3 new 10k bulbs and told him to keep the 14k's.

hah, that guy got lucky. its something not to complain about, all bulbs have different colors!

i recently got the 250 halide, external magnetic ballast, pretty hot so far (literally)

I have had my 36" 2x150 sunpod for about 2 weeks and love it!! I am changing the stock bulds to Pheonix 14k in a few weeks.

I have the same light (36") version over my 40 gallon and have been very happy with the fixture to a point, I guess I should say because this is my third one in two weeks. The first one had a noisy fan so a replacement was sent out and that one had a faulty ballast (very noisy). I guess that the third time is a charm because I finally got one that runs properly. I ordered mine from drsfostersmith as well and was very happy with the customer service that they provided during the small issues that came up with the two fixtures. They even sent out both of the replacements 2-day air at no charge to me. Great company to do business with. I'm not sure what you meant by the led's are programmable though? You will need a bit of room to plug in the system as the led's are powered by little boxes and the mh is separate.

I have the 48" 2x150w version(mh). I love it, but the bulbs are little too blue. I will wear them out before I change them.

From the Current Website.

The SunPod is the world's first and only fixture to feature both Blue and White Lunar Lights mounted on a removable LED panel. Each color is independently controlled - allowing you to use both colors for a gradual ramp up, or one color for nocturnal viewing. Our Moon White is the only natural white light replicating the glow of a full moon. The crisp white light casts a "moon-glow" over your tank creating a beautiful nocturnal environment. The Nocturnal Blue light casts a mysterious nighttime glow over your tank creating a viewable nocturnal environment while providing all of the benefits of a lunar light.

This is why i was asking if the moonlights where programable. It is the way they word it in there description.

Yes you can program them, but it is not included with the setup. The LEDs have there own plugs. So you need 2 additional timers to set the LEDs up. You only get one with the kit.(used mine for the halides)

Ok cool thank you for explaining. I got plenty of timers laying around.

Might do 9am till 12pm ~~ blue leds
12pm till 8pm ~~ Halides
8pm till 10pm ~~ blue leds
10pm till 9am ~~ white leds

SURE IT GETS COMPLETELY DARK. WHAT ABOUT WHEN THERE IS CLOUD COVER AND NO MOONLIGHT... AND IM NOT YELLING!!!!!! LOL. IM USING CAPS AT WORK. sorry.

I guess some people add that in for a more natural setting. Im sure there is a better explanation that I cant think of right now, maybe someone else will chime in. I actually read it on one of the threads here somewhere...

no problem and yes i do understand about the darkness.

Hmmm maybe tues and fridays we can rain night and just turn off all the lights for the night.
