Sunroom into Fishroom

So turning my sunroom into a fish room to grow coral.

I have x3 100 gallon rubbermaids:
1 for equipment
2 for DSB and grow room

I have my main display in center of room that is 220 gallons

I have 2 90 gallon tanks on each side of my room set up as frag tanks

All my plumbing is done. Minus the PVC that goes inside of the sumps for water level and such.

Will need a skimmer soon. Right now I have my old skimmer in the left sump which will soon be a DSB. My equipment will go in the center sump.

I have an issue of algae going on in my main display right now. I know i have ridiculously high phosphates right now but I think its due to not having the correct skimmer for this size system. I will wait for awhile before adding lights to the 90s and sumps for now until i get the issues fixed and I get my skimmer.

That's a hell of a project you have going on there! Your algae issues is probably a combination of high PO4 and possibly your lights depending on the bulbs you are running and their age. Spectrums under 7K can really encourage and accelerate algae growth. A good skimmer will help remove solids and waste from the water. A UV filter could also help with algae control. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Nice of you to chime in slief.

The bulbs are brand new bulbs just put them in they are ATI bulbs.

My phosphates are around .64

.64??? :eek1:

Yea, that's bound to be a big issue. That's not going to come down easily with GFO.. You need to get a handle on that. Are you using RODI water? If so, are you maintaining the filters and monitoring the TDS?

I have several heaters spread throughout the system right now. Temp seems to be stable. I have 2 500 watt titanium heaters that I plan on using however I do not believe that will be enough for this system.

Will bring updated pictures today. a buddy of mine let me borrow one of his mega skimmers to help with the excess nutrients that were causing algae issues within my system

Awesome spread you are going to have there. With those phosphate levels I would look into lanthium chloride dosing to get it under control. Do you foresee cooling being an issue in the summer months?
