Definitely frag it. This is the issue with encrusting monti's especially if they're next to acros.

Everything thrives in my tank including montipora, but I can NEVER get the encrusting ones to be happy. That's a sweet pic, it is obviously doing very well!

You could cut the base of the acro and remount and just let the monti overtake the stalk of the acro … other than that, it looks like a waiting game of impending doom
