Super Tongan nassarius snail?

Was sold as super Tongan nassarius. Just wanted to make sure if they were predatory or not.(whelk)???

Was trying to figure out a reason why a yellow coris wrasse past away. The snails have been in my tank a while but I haven't had any sand burrowing fish til this new wrasse. Fish was healthy and eating no harassment woke up next snails were on it. Not sure if they were acting as clean up crew or predators.

Just trying to rule out a possibility.

Thanks for your help.

Yep, it's a Nassarius, but not the ones they call "Super Tongan" (which I never saw in Tonga, by the way). That one is an Indian Ocean species, and grows almost as large as the ones in the N. arcularius complex ("Tongan"). Behavior should be about the same. Both species will jump on something that is injured and finish it off. They are generally scavengers, but a few things like small tridacnids aren't totally safe with them.

Cheers,

Don
