Superman monti question

I have the chance to buy a superman monti for $80. The piece is 3-4 inches. But I'm not sure if superman monti is a plating or encrusting type. Or can this color come as both plating or encrusting.

encrusting, put it on it's own rock away from everything, mine took over
a Cali Tort & Setosa.

Maybe I will stay away. As much as I love the colors I would not be happy if it started overtaking other corals.

Will it grow over sand if I make an island for it away from everything

As others have said it encrusts and is fairly invasive. For some reason it is immune to my duncan and is growing directly in contact with the polyps. The only way the duncan can kill it off is when it gets too close to the base and is totally shaded during the day by polyp extension.

it may or may not encrust the sand, however you can put a rock on the sand and let it encrust the rock, remove the rock, sell some frags and start over, so it doesn't become invasive
