Superman Mushroom

so i got this neat little sucker this week and was wondering what is the best way to propogate them ,, cut them up? dont have much experice with shrooms.

the colors are much more in intense , very blue background and very red spots. I suck at photos

also in the superman theme got this superman digitatta also very blue base and re polyps, once again i managed to wash out the shot

I think you frag 'shooms just by cutting them. There is a post that someone put them in blender and the pieces all grew...

if you go to www.reefvideos.com they have a video showing step by step how to frag mushrooms. you basically cut them up like a pizza making sure to get a piece of the mouth on each one, then hold them down with some mesh in a cup of crushed coral until they attach, then glue the crushed coral to your rock. they're apparently too slimy to glue them right to a piece of rock.

rhodactis are a bit harder to do than discosoma since more of the base is attached.

They will shrink incredibly when you cut them, until you think it is not worth saving the piece, but it is. Once you start cutting, it helps to be fairly quick, and using a very sharp blade or scissor is a good idea.

Glue doesn't work too well on these guys at all. I've tried the bridal net (tulle) method, and that works ok, but what worked better was putting them on top of some crushed coral in a jar in the tank and letting them settle and attach, with the jar providing an area of low flow. Works for Xenia too.

Best luck I've had with those is to put some rubble touching the shroom. After a few weeks or so and some heavy feeding to promote growth, it's usually attached to the rubble and you can slice it with a razor blade to seperate the two pieces.
