I was at a LFS saturday and picked up a fist sized "rock with mushrooms". After I got it home I was noticing that of the rock under the shrooms was made up of oyster/clam shells. Well today as I was checking out my new shrooms I noticed something. One of the "shells" was not only open but it had a syphon extended from it! As I pressed my nose up to the glass it quickly snapped shut. So I grabbed the camera and waited for it to open back up.....

and I give you.....

Mushrooms on clam.......

I had a couple of those before. However since they are strictly filter feeders they usually perish quite quickly in most tanks. All of mine have always died within a couple of months:(

Here's mine. Been in my tank for more than 6 months and has grown since.

note the oysters beneath and to the lower right side of the clam. They seem to be thriving so far.

ive got a few hitchiking clams in my tank, especially ones that bore into the LR and have red mantles. They form a nickel size hole in the LR where they reside that can go back several inches
