Sure Grip 50 Magnetic Powerhead Holder

Here's the deal:

If you want to mount them like the Tunze's (the power head sits on an even plane with the magnet or slightly below it) like this:

then you'll need to glue it, but if you want to mount the Seio like it appears in the pic on the PA website, then you won't need to alter anything.

Here's another concern I've just been made aware of with these:

The power of the outside magnets cause the magnets in the impellers to spin/wear unevenly in the pump, causing breakdowns. Has anyone noticed needing to replace impellers on their pumps when using the Sure Grip to hold them up?

i am using 2 of them they work great on my MJ1200 with the reef chili mod..

just dont try to use the MJ mod with a wave timer.. its not pretty..works well for a little while then BOOM it trashes the stop pin and the cross bar..

You can mod the cross bar. Take that black airline tubing that comes with the MJ mounting stuff, cut a piece, slit it so that it opens up, glue it onto the stopper, and then you'll be fine.

does that act like a shock absorber?
i am using the reefchili MJmod kit, and i had to glue my endcap (piece with the crossbar) on to the shroud, because the on and off of the wave maker would cause the cap to come off.. i also had to MONDO superglue the end of the shaft in the cross bar cause that was also comming out.. i have been running the MJ mods for a month or so on the wave timer, and i had to repair or replace parts every few days.. when it is working it is GREAT, but the wave time is just destruying the mod.
on one the propeller snaped off the stop pin and the carbon shaft the propeller is glued to caused so much friction on my end cap/crossbar, it ground a grove , weaking the cross and broke it out.. i would love to hear about a sucess story on the wave time.. any ideas will be appreciated..
