I have a 29 gallon with just a 1" elbow at the surface of the tank as an overflow. it opens up to a 1 1/4 T for a vent then down to the sump. I looked in my tank today an noticed a brown film on the surface....The surface is not skimming off into the elbow. I put my finger over the vent hole on the top of the T and the surface started to skim. I now see why people use overflow boxes. Is there any way to add a corner box with my tank already set up???? For now i'm just going to plug the vent hole once in a while, but it gets real loud when i do that.
