Suspect dead fish

I havent seen my diamond goby for a day or so and started getting a little nervous. Thinking he might have some how parished, i ran a quick test on the water to spot any irregular params. My amonia has spiked to 1.2ppm with NO2 and NO3 still at 0, so im pretty sure i have lost my goby. How would you suggest removeing it? Tear the rockwork apart until i find the suspect fish or let the cleanup crew do the work for me? I have never lost a fish in a marine tank, just freshwater.

Usally if the fish is big and i can see and net it i will remove it. but otherwise i let the clean up crew do its job:)

UPDATE:

Well I figured i would look around a few pieces of "easy" to move rocks in the tank and still could not locate him, but after a routine sump cleaning, i found him clinging to life in the sump. He is very skinny after 3 days with no food so i hope he pulls through. Now i just have to figure out where the ammonia spike came from, i am guessing a snail or something.

how did it get down there Bobby? I had a clown go missing yesterday no corpse nothing on the ground around the tank, noting. Im begging to suspect aliens took him. =) I looked in the sump but didnt see him down there though the only way he could get down there is through my return and i dont think he would survive the trip through the pump.

First he must have jumped into the overflow, then through the eggcrate protector, then through the return pipes, then jumped out of a 4x4x12 inch tall acrlyic box, then into the fuge..... Helluva trip, i hope he starts to eat and pulls out of it.

Man goodluck i just went and searched my sump for my little clown but nothing. :( Its so wierd he's just gone. Usually my clean up crew push out a corpse and show me but nothing. IDK.

I'm on my third, THEY JUMP OUT like crazy, my last one went thru 2 layers of eggcrate. The first one landed in the sump by accident , on his second flight he glued to the wall. I've got 3 layers of eggcrate to enclose the canopy now. This will be the new guys first night, still cant figure out what scares em' out. Good luck Bobby.
