Swap-errific! :)

I have to say that was an awesome frag swap!

Thanks to everybody that attended and thanks to all the volunteers who put so much effort into organizing the event. And special thanks to the BAR sponsors who gave us such great deals on the BAR purchased corals that went into the swap!

As so many others have mentioned, it's really great to be part of such a generous and helpful community of reefers. That's the kind of reefers we want to be if we are to pursue our club mission of captive propagation and education on care of marine life.

Though strictly not written into our club mission, helpfulness, sharing, and community mindedness are values that go a long way in facilitating our efforts. It can be all too easy to become focused on one's self and how many corals one can grab.

I was really glad to see the non-frantic excitement yesterday. The lack of pushing, shoving, elbowing, scratching, and biting was very welcome :)

Also impressive was the fact that even without a Rare category for the swap, people brought an abundance of super nice stuff. At what other swap do you see so many Superman monti, Tyree Toadstool, Rainbow monti, Purple Death paly, LE this and that, scattered around the tables even after multiple rounds of picking?

And again, welcome to all our new members. Hope you all had a chance to see the true BAR spirit. Looking forward to everyone helping to continue in the same way.

Great job, BAR!

I got a Leng Sy cap and I was in H. Fantastic. Can't wait to bing some frags of it next time.

I liked this swap more than the last even without the raffle. Last one was kind of overwhelming with the number of folks.

Hey adrian, I sat next to you. But it was good meeting you. I need a bigger box next time!

Yes, it was less congested and less hectic because people were listening for their group and matching raffle numbers. I thought the frags this time were a lot better. And the environment was more laid back.

Next time if you guys need help with the 250 frag packing LMK.

I agree, that swap was quite a nice swap, the lack of people rushing the gate... I still have nightmares of me holding back the surge from a couple swaps ago... was the perfect time.

And yes even without a rare category there were lots of "rare" stuff... or maybe it's just in our area we have some nice giving people that the stuff isn't as rare as in other parts on the country/state. Even though I have quite a few asking for frags of my gomezi once it grows out, there were so many other choices that could have been made, and as Adrian mentioned good stuff was on the tables for a long time.

I got more "rare" stuff then when I had a rare ticket!

I was in G, and I scored a nice rainbow monti and a tubs blue! amazing!

I thought it was an excellent swap. Smooth and well put together guys.

Picks and the timer were very simple. This was a smaller swap so people may have socialized more and had room to walk around and mingle. There wasn't a line of people rushing and packed around the entrance waiting to get their pick.

Lastly, the corals were excellent. I was in G and I thought there were still a lot of great stuff to pick from. I think the fact that people are willing to bring rare stuff without special rare categories and tickets can get more people in the mood to bring rare stuff out of generosity than other reasons. Hard to say.

Anyhow, there were excellent things. I was only interested in softies mainly. Stuff I remember seeing that were really cool to see in these tables were the Purple Death, Rose nebula, Tubs blues, Nuclear Greens, Tyree Toadstool, Orange Yuma, Spiderman Zoas... I did swing by the SPS table in the beginning and saw a number of LE type and named corals.

Again great job everyone who put it together, ran it so smoothly and contributed nice frags. I hope the next swap will be just as good.

Great Job,

It was nice not have to fight to the picking area. The coral selection was amazing.

I'm not sure what exactly my first pic was just that its color is great. This picture dosn't do it justice. It is glowing, thanks Jim for pointing me in the right direction.

Haha... that was probably 250 and another 250 that Jim packed :)

He just didn't whine about it like I did :)

Tim, I got the other peice of that was on the table. Does anyone know anything about this coral? Who it came from, what it is? It is incredible and was deffinitly a great first pick!!!

I think Jim brought them. I have it on the bottom of my tank right now. Will probly move it up a little. Any idea's of placement?

No problem!

Hey, nice frags you put into the swap, Doug! I spaced out at first and didn't realize they were from you, haha.

I passed on Superman, Rainbow, Pokerstar, a bunch of LE acros, Purple Death and other cool zoas to snag your Confusa for my first pick :)

I likes them montis, I sure do :)

This was my first time to the BAR swap and it was super cool. I got to meet a few nice people there. I was a newbie to the BAR swap so I came there with nothing but I went home with many many pieces of frag. Thanks for making me feel so welcome.
