Swapping out my LR

Okay guys, I'm really thinking about swapping out my LR for some BRS dry rock. I know, crazy. I'm certainly not looking forward to the idea of pulling all my corals off the rocks, and going through the process, but damn, those mushrooms are taking over.

So my plan is...

-Pull off all my SPS and remount them on rubble rock.
-Throw the BRS rock in a container with RO, doing a couple of 100% WCs.
-After a couple of weeks switching it over to SW, and throwing as much LR in there that I can find w/o any shrooms.
-Keep the dry rock in with the LR for ???
-Do the swap, remount the corals, have a cold one, and try to unload the LR!

Any suggestions on a container for the rock? I don't have one.
Anybody have a cheapo light I could borrow for a month or two?

The only thing I can do for you is help you get rid of those pesky mushroom rocks. Those things are so annoying. I'll tell you what I'll do, I'll bring them home and put them in my tank and give them dirty looks and make them feel ashamed every time I walk by. That should help you out some I think. Just looking out for you....

Thanks for the offer evo. I may take you up on it, but I'm seriously considering picking up on of PaulB's majano wands. I'm really not super excited to swap the rock out. I will if it comes to it, but if I can fry those mushrooms instead...

Laser! I would also try aptasia x. I have used it on a few corals that were encroaching on others territory.

How about injection with distilled vinegar?? Thats how I kill aptasia.

I've tried injecting with vinegar, injecting with hot lemon juice, injecting with hot RO, covering with kalk paste, trading as many rocks as I could easily pull, and sucking out as many as I could and setting the shrooms free down my driveway. Nothing has been particularly effective, outside of physical removal. But the mushrooms are too entrenched for that...other than to pull all of my rock.

Ordered PaulB's MajanoWand. I will report back and let you guy know how it works. The feedback that I've seen says it works really well for mushrooms.

I did something similar in Nov.

For me it was Majano infestation so I had to remove the sand as well.

Dry rock went out side in SW and a pump to initiate some type of cycle, I left for 2 weeks.

Curious to see how you like the wand, I still have a total of 2 majano that I have tried everything to kill.

Got the Majano Wand yesterday. Didn't have the time to put in some serious work, but from what I can tell...works completely & totally as advertised. I'm trying to be careful not to dissolve (for lack of a better word) too many at once, and we'll have to see how it does long-term, but overall, this thing appears to work like a charm.
