Got my re-order in today from SWF.com and I have to say this time it seems much better. All the fish look real healthy except one little goby was kinda DOA and didn't make it past the bucket acclimation. Sorry I did not offer to get anyone anything this time but last time I felt real bad everyones stuff died .
They gave me no problem at all with the replacement fish and inverts that did not make it from the redicoulus last order. They did not replace or credit the fish I did not send back from just my word they died (sorry Steve I tried) but the ones I sent back was no questions asked. They replaced 7 fish for free, credited my account for the 2 DOA with cash back, and 2 free cleaner shrimp that did not make it last order. This order seems much healthier. I did have a tiny clown goby die as soon as I cut him out of the bag into the bucket with all the other fish but thats nothing like all the dead in the last order. It was like he had a little fish heart attack but the SWF websight says you can cut all fish into the same bucket for acclimation so he must have already been on his way out. I alerted SWF that he was DOA and they are going to just give me my money back. BTW fish were at 1.016 and inverts at 1.030 this time so a SLOW drip is manditory.

I have tubes going EVERYWHERE! 2 at a freinds with a 55, 2 at a freinds with a 5.5, 2 at a freinds with a 29 and 2 in my tank! I set up 2 of my tanks at freinds houses to make life easier on me and am just doing all the same stuff I always did with them just at my freinds houses now :lol:. Really that was my sick plan, when you are out of room at your house just branch out to your neighbors!! When our other freind saw all of us with tanks she drug her 55 out of storage and started it back up. People need to be forwarned about me if you are my freind you will end up with a tank sooner or later! Its fun shopping for other people at the LFS though. I went with a freind to AC a few weeks ago and got to shop for fish with her money I still got a rush even though they didn't go in my tank!


I hope this order turns out better in the long run. I only ordered the bare minimum just to get the replacements and had a box full of fish this time. I did get me a royal gramma and he has the real long flowy bottom finns I have seen on very few before! He is beautiful, not sure if the super long finns means he is male/female or just real mature but he is a lot prettier than most I have seen or had. I really hope he makes it! I gave the replacement royal gramma with normal finns to my freind...Shhhh don't tell her One perk for frontting the money this time and being the pick up person is I got to pick the prettiest for me!

glad to hear it was better this time around. I'm not worried about my fish from the last order. But, as large as the order and us bein' a reefclub....you'd think they would have took your word for it. Was only $30 loss...

I just released my pistol shrimp, and he's extremely busy......dust and pebbles flying everywhere.

I'm still acclimating the goby....that salinity is sooooo low! I have to leave work at 4:15, so I hope it's done by then. Ugh!

I am glad the shrimp is doing good Fanof49! I bet the fish will be fine, the webpage says like 3 hours to acclimate so I am sure he will do good. Those little pistols they have are real neat animals!

Hmmm, not so good after all... 2 shrimp ($20 cleaners) died during acclimation. It was 2 different tanks and they both had 2 shrimp each and both lost 1? I am telling you going from 1.030 to 1.024 in just 2 hours as SWF recomends is nuts. We dripped for 4-5 hours and still lost 2. They were both fine till the end and then just suddenly died. I am very aggravated with this. Now I will have to place ANOTHER $79 order just to get my $40 worth of shrimp replaced. If anyone is placing a order soon I would like to tag on my 2 shrimp so I don't have to order from them again. Its a bummer you have to tag them on to your "next" order....

thats how they still gaurantee they make there money. alot of better companies will replace doa which includes things that die during aclimation with no questions asked for free and dont expect you to make another order. swf just wants you to have another 79 dollar order to make up for ther shipping fees and there making more money even though they have to send you a few cleaners that they pay a few bucks for in the first place. they are just trying to make money even though they need to take a loss to make it right but they are the type of company that cares more about making a profit. so id forget them and leave bad feedback for them in the forums. ive read alot of bad feedback on them so your not the only one who they have screwed over.

I am just glad we are not out the $50 but I am wondering if thats a plan of theirs, send a few unhealthy things so we will "have" to re-order to get the replacements Kidding naturally, but it is a pain to salt them and send them back. The way people are now a days, I bet they would be out of buisness if they just took peoples word for it they died. Can't say I would run a on-line store different if it was mine but I am thinking the quality may be in question of the animals they keep. Or who they get them from with the collection methods. All the fish seem good this time though except that one. Shrimp are just so darn sensitive anyways hard to tell with them.

Knock on wood......my Hi Fin Goby and pistol shrimp are doing great! That shrimp must be creating a palace under a rock, because he's created a huge mound of substrate. That little fellow needs to take a break.....he's making me tired.

It's weird to me that this order (from the get-go) has been such a disaster. We have ordered from saltwaterfish.com numerous times - in fact I think they are the only online site we have ever ordered livestock from - and we've never had any trouble with them. We've lost a few snails and hermits here and there, but nothing major. It's just odd to me that this last round seems to be such a mess. This hobby is so frustrating sometimes...

I am a non-acclimater. I drop em in. Never lost livestock of any kind in the first week. They way I look at it, the critter is in really dirty bad water when you get him. Dropping it in any form of clean salt water at any salinity is better than where it came from which is basically a bag filled with fish excrement, and very little oxygen.

A side note, the local fish stores typiclaly do not acclimate their large orders each week, and they lose very little livestock. Some will float the bags untill they have everything unloaded, but that is more an unpacking process than anything else.

Im done with SWF from now on. After the first order & everything being a total loss, my stuff included & now youve already got some doas on the replacement order it doesnt seem like theyre all that healthy of fish. I sure Fed ex beats them up a little to. I would just take the 50 loss & not order anything else from them. Your gonna have to pay 79.99 plus a 10..00 gas surcharge for 50.00 worth a credit plus some new doas. I do appreciate you getting the order together Angela & in no way am i trying to blame or bash you. I just hate to see you get burnt by them again.

So your goby/shrimp combo never showed up eyebedam? I hate that How about yours Moriah, did they ever show up? I am kinda thinking the same thing Eyebedam about just cutting my losses while I am ahead. And its $20 shipping. $10 "gas surcharge" And a $10 box charge.... Just a little way to get us to really be paying for shipping in the long run. I had gotten 3 other orders from them in the past and never had a problem till this time so who knows. What is aggravating about the shrimp is they are the same price as the LFS but now I have to order again just to get the shrimp.

If anyone is ordering from them and wants to buy my credit at 1/2 of what its worth I will gladly sell you the code just to not have to fool with it again. You can use the credit towards anything, not just shrimp. I subsituted 2 things this time for 2 of the other dead no problem. Just LMK

Angela- We saw them dig in and found them a time or two after that, but not in a long time now. There is a goby in my tank (don't know what kind... tomiyama or something like that) that I find in my tank whenever I move it, but never see otherwise... so maybe I'm still a little optimistic, but not really.
