Switching to RODI

So I moved to FL and can now get RODI easily from the store. I'm so sick of red slime and hair algae.

Would you all recommend doing it all at once (only 40g) or slowly? I (being me and impatient) want to do it all at once. Or at least 20g, then another 20 maybe in a week. I realize even that won't get me all RODI but at least a lot of it should be.

How would you guys do it?

thanks!

Why make it harder than it needs to be? Just continue with regular water changes

that's what the LFS said, guess that's probably the easiest route.

Thank you :) I may just do 10g w/c for a while to speed it up a bit.

And buy your own ro/di unit. What you buy from a store has no guarantee of 0 TDS, and will cost you more in the long run anyway.

+1!!!! Yrs ago when I started I bought RODI from the store had hair algae really bad....I got a TDS meter.... checked their water and it was 35!!!!! I went right out and bought my own RODI unit....that was several years ago...and no algae problems after that! Best investment!!!!

That's better than what we were getting from LFS...Tested in 120s every time!

I thought it was a fluke until it happened a 2nd time. I'm wondering if what they were selling as RODI was just RO.
That's a good point...it does sound like RO and not RODI.....I have checked my tap water before and it was 200...makes you wonder....
