Swivel arm mounting 6100

Twice now my new 6100 has piveted on it's mount and nearly destroyed corals after several hours of full blast current.

The first time I thought I fixed the problem by following the instructions for the 6200 Page 13 #7 says to use the .31" screw for the 6200 but make no mention of it for a 6100 other than by a picture absent the screw.

The second time, I am back to deciphering the instruction booklet and squinting at the little pictures with tiny screws. And I still don't get it.

Why is the pump piviting? What feature is supposed to stop the pump from piviting?

And even if I did use the screw, it would need a washer to put any force on the swivel joint. The supplied screw and nut pass fully through the circular joint attached to the pump bracket.

Can you help me out here?

Thanks

The pump should stay in place with the teeth on the pivot arm and the post, they should firmly mesh together. Sometime people install the pump upside down and that is one cause, I have also seen sets where the teeth were not so good but this is not very common. The 6200 has a special version of the holder with a screw, your set includes no screw, it isn't really necessary for the 6100 because it has less force. Check these things out we will take it from their

The teeth are fine on mine, but the on-off of the controller/pump causes the unit the pump to jump and overcome the downward friction of the pump weight. (I did not mount the pump upside down)

I used a zip tie to jury-rig the mounting. And it seems to hold. It will be an expensive failure if it does not hold, so other suggestions are welcome.

The zip tie bandaide looks fitting along with the jury-rig of Maxi-jet parts to mount the whole thing to the side of an AGA tank.

I did not expect to be buying DIY pump for this kind of money, but the pump does work well.

Their should be no jury rigging needed, the included holder should work on an AGA tank. You use the included long metal screws to span the trim and cut the small plastic tube to serve as a spacer between the rail and the tank at the bottom. In my gallery I have a picture of one in use on an Oceanic, same basic concept. If you would like I would be willing to send you a 6080.23 that I have tapped and put a screw in on an exchange basis, when you get this one you send me yours. This would be just like the 6200 holder, a thread tapped into the hole and a screw retains the piece.
