Synergy reef overflow?

Greetings peoples I'm in the market for a overflow. And the low profile of the Synergy reef overflow lntrests me. As it has a large price tag on it, I thought I would see if anybody had a opinion on it. Any feed back would appreciated
THANKS peeps!

I got mine from modular marine, similar design and a little cheaper.

its a great unit.

Synergy reef overflow is great and with bean animal is dead silent.. I have considered the one listed above but the advantage the Synergy reef overflow has is the weir is removable for cleaning and that is huge. It is also the same as the reef savvy over flow.

The other listed I am sure would be close to the same just harder to clean.

The reviews on bulk reef supply have me nervous about pulling the trigger on the overflow. It also doesn't come with the drill bit or any plumbing. It's pretty spendy too. I've had luck with glass-holes, but wanted to upgrade. My new build is a 40 breeder. The thing I like about the synergy aside from the obvious advantages is that I'd be able to use it when I upgrade down the road.

I do not think any do except for some of the packages at glass holes package.

Why would you want plumbing? Every tank is different and plumbed different.
It comes with bulkheads, what else do you need?. When you buy a reef ready aquarium they do not even come with any pluming not even the overflow plumbing, that is a extra.

it comes with a nice plastic template to help you drill the holes. This template actually makes it easier almost like a jig.

whats the matter with reviews?

I see one bad one.
Problem with products and reviews like these is there is always someone who should not be attempting things like drilling tanks or touching any tools.

Gotcha. Didn't look close enough I guess. Didn't know it came with the bulkheads.

I think either would be fine.
It took me no time to install.

Looks very nice. I'm not done with my stand yet so I've got time to decide. I am leaning towards the synergy.

This is the review that scares me: Product is great, but my internal overflow box leaked as have other reviewers. No finishing has been done on any seams, no flame polished edges, over applied solvent in some places, etc. Sort of a rough looking product considering the claims of "no overlapping or rough edges." after fixing the leak I'm happy with the product but seriously it's like they welded it up and sent it on its way rather than doing even the most minor of finishing work. Compared to everything I've seen from CPR and eshoppes the manufacturer seems like they used their high quality cnc and materials as a replacement for good craftsmanship. Sort of a shame since this product is so highly praised

Thanks for the input people so far I'm undecided but it seems like a wotrth while investment. Do you need to incorporate the Bean Animal, or does it come with it i couldn't tell by looking at.the overflow box seemed empty?

I prefer the ModularMarine ones, to be honest. I just bought another for my 40 breeder and have used them on 2 other tanks. Depending on which one you buy, it is significantly cheaper. Sorry, a removable cleanable weir doesn't justify spending 200 dollars in my book and I've never had any issues cleaning my ModularMarine wier.

I have found they are pretty silent and the definition of silent will be different from person to person. They have a ebay store, but I have found the prices are slightly cheaper on their website and shipping is cheaper also. I'm guessing their prices on ebay are slightly more becuase of fees which they make up in shipping a slightly higher pricing on ebay. I know some will disagree with me but I feel the ModularMarine are worth a very serious consideration. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them in the future.

Modular Marine all the way. I have a 14" with a straight weir, the one without teeth, with a cover over the outer box for ~ $150. They also sent me a drilling guide, no extra charge but very useful.

Remember no matter how good a product is there will always be negative reviews. Nothing ever makes everyone happy. It is something like over 50 percent of the people with problems leave a negative reviews and like less than 10 percent of the happy people leave positive reviews or something like that.

Also he talks about flame polished edges ? really on something that is behind the tank! He compares it to eshopps and CPR?

Anyway they all are fine like I said.

Here is another good company.

Even more expensive but really good quality.

The only reason I do not use them instead is again I like a removable and covered weir. I have several tanks without removable weirs and it makes a difference. When coralline or algae starts to grow on it I can take it out. This is the first place they start since it is high flow and bright light. I hate grabbing a brush and trying to scrub the stuff out. On my non-removable weirs I have to create covers that stick out with over hangs to block the light. Once coralline start growing it is a pain. I can remove mine and soak it in vinegar to remove any coralline or calcium, I can let it dry out to make sure any algae is dead.

I do not like a straight weir because then snails and fish can go over.

I also like them covered even with teeth because again snails and fish can get in.

To some it may not be important and too each his own. Sometimes until you have it you do not know how important something is. To some it may not be worth the extra money but it is a positive feature no matter what.

NO matter what one the OP goes for It should be fine, all 3 are quality products. I have seen both, I have not seen a exotic marine systems but have only heard positive reviews.

I used synergy overflow for my 40 gallon breeder build and wouldn't hesitate using it again for future projects. I absolutely love it. Sleek, slim beautiful and well built.

just ordered this one from aqua cave. It eshopps. Didn't install it yet. But build quality is nice. Come with a template to drill tank. Low profile. Won't be installing for a little while. But looks good.
