Hey guys. Haven't been on much for awhile. I am at a point where I've got more changes going on and have decided to scale down for now. This means I'm going to put my 120g system up for sale. I used quotes in the title as I don't know that I can exactly call the whole thing a "system", as I usually think of an all inclusive setup when I see that word, and mine is not exactly going to fall into that category, as some of the components (like lighting) are kinda iffy.
So, here's the deal. What I have is a 4x2x2 reef ready aquarium with dual overfows on the back wall sitting on an oak stand. The plumbing on this tank is run down and out the back of the stand, through a hole in the wall, and to a sump sitting on the basement floor in a storeroom behind the tank. The sump is a homemade acrylic job that is 32" long x 20" wide x 15" tall. It was built so it would supposedly fit into the stand from the back too. I haven't had it in there myself. Have a Mag 12 return pump that's been running since I set the tank up about 5 years ago. I have a pair of tunze pumps in the tank, I think they're 6010's or something like that, pretty caked up with coralline and such. I have a MSX 200 protein skimmer I've been running a couple years and is in very good shape. I have a GEO 6x12 calcium reactor that I haven't been running for a little while, needs further cleaned up. It looks to be in good shape, none of the plastic screws are stripped or anything. Have a tunze osmolator topoff unit. Lighting is iffy if you would want to keep it, it's a pair of reflectors screwed together that had single ended 250 watt MH's, along with a pair of VHO actinics, powered by ARO electronic ballasts. The reflectors and lights hang from the ceiling by chains, so that's why I don't know if anyone would want that as part of the "system" or not. It's included in the price if you want it though.
The livestock is going to be part of what I have in there now. I'm cannibalizing the tank for some rock to go into the 29g I'm setting up elsewhere, so there will be something like 50 to 75 pounds of live rock left in there. All of my SPS died awhile back, so all that's left is softies and some LPS. I am going to be taking several of my corals with me, but there is going to be quite a few left in the tank that have grown over to the main rocks, such as zoanthids, ricordea, mushrooms, etc. There are also 5 decent RBTA's in there. It has some algae going as well. Also, there will be a very nice foxface rabbitfish in there, as well as a simply gorgeous purple tang. Hate parting with these fish, but putting them in a 29g is just... you know. Rest of the fish are going with me.
So, for all of the above, I'm asking a firm $850.
I know how things usually go with these sales, so I'll say now that no, I'm not going to start keeping lists on who is in line for certain things if I part it all out. I'm trying to sell it as a full system for now. If it doesn't go fairly quickly, I'll be putting it in craigslist. If it doesn't go quickly there, then I'll update this with parting out prices. So if you're interested, let me know in the next few days or I'll be moving on to the next step. Not sure when exactly I'll be able to start tearing things down, but I'd like to do it before the end of the year. I have to try and capture my smaller fish out of there first and make the move to the new tank that is 2 hours away from here.
Anyway, post here if you're interested. I don't have much room in my mailbox to get more messages, I'll try to get that cleaned out a little. Here's a few pics... shadow of its former self. :-(
