t maxima placed on sandbed?

I'm planning on getting a tridacna maxima once my 50g has aged a little (it's just at the two-month period and I'm avoiding the urge to rush things, which has led to problems with previous tanks). I know that in the wild, they bore into rocks, but I've seen many pictures of tanks where they are placed directly on the sandbed. Is this a good idea if you are going to be including a lot of burrowing creatures in the tank? I'm a huge pistol shrimp/goby fan, and also plan on getting a jawfish, all of which will be digging around underneath the clam, so could probably injure the (whatever you call those threads that the clams use to hold themselves in place). Any feedback?

I have all of mine on the sand bed and they are fine. I started out trying to get them in the rock work but they kept jumping off so on the sandbed they went.

Stick a flat rock\shell right underneath their byssal gland under the sand so they can attach to that, otherwise they can be killed by parasites entering from the sand bed.

It took me 5 to 6 tries before my clam decided to stay on the rock. You can see from my tank picture. I personally like it on the rock more than on the sand.

i have mine on the sandbed as well, but they're attached to a piece of flat rock that i buried under the sand. It would be easy for me to move them if i have to. If there's no piece of rock under the sand, then they'll attach to the glass on the bottom and would be a PITA for you to move them
