t5 ballast

will the Fulham Workhorse 7 T5 HO Fluorescent Ballast overdrive my 4 t5 bulbs(54w) like my icecap 660 did?

Not to the same wattage. I don't think a WH7 will even overdrive 4 bulbs. It might overdrive 2 or 3 but you would more than likely be under driving with 4 bulbs.

Is there a reason you want to over drive the bulbs? Is your tank more than 30" tall?

A spec T5 ballast is a much better choice IMO. Longer bulb life and less heat overall.

No I have a standard 75. It was just suggested to me when I bought my lights from Salty Critter , that the 660 would be the best bet because it overdrives the bulbs. Gave great light til it caught fire. I'm looking to replace it.

Go with 2 spec T5 ballasts. There is absolutely ZERO reason to overdrive on your tank. It just wears bulbs out faster and creates more heat.

URI lamps are dual rated if you run them on a T5HO ballast they will burn at 54 watts. If you run them using a Ice cap ballast they run as a VHO lamp at 80 watts.
