T5 Ballast

Im putting together a T5 retro fit and I had a few questions. As we all know the ATI fixtures turn on 6 bulbs with only one cord (8 bulb fixture) and 2 bulbs with the other power cord. The fixture has a total of 4 ballast, 2 bulbs per ballast. Im assuming the set of 6 bulbs are all connected to the same power cord correct?

I will have 8 bulbs in my retro fit which means 4 ballast and I don't really want 4 cords so could I connect two ballast together so that I only end up with 2 cords? Or do I need some sort of special junction box or power adapter?

If you keep the wiring inside the fixture, just wire nut (with the appropriate size) all the relevant power cords together.
