Hello all I am in looks of trading out my wavepoint bulbs for either ATi or guiesman-Which is better?why? Can you really tell a difference - also wondering what ever one had set up- looking at doing 2 blue and 2 atinic but worried about my lights being overly blue- I know the blue is a mix of day and actinic but was looking for some backup
I know there is alot of personally pref, on this butttt u know
 
And by blue you both mean blue - not atinic ? I can't find ati local so prob go with g. If I can find some
 
Blue can be a mix of actinic or actinic plus which is comparable to a 50/50 and has more PAR. A 1 blue to 1 white ratio was not enough blue for me. I have used Geissmans for some time and they work great. I have seen T5s locally only at petsmart but those bulbs I would not recommend to anyone to use in a main tank.
 
Go with ATI their blue plus bulbs are hard to beat with Geisseman a close second
here's my recommendation for a 4 bulb fixture
3- ATI blue plus (bright high par blue)
to
1- ATI 12,000k aquablue special (basically a crisp white bulb)

If you want even more color you could exchange one of the blue plus for a ATI purple plus. Unless you have a 8 bulb fixture I would stay away from any true actinic bulbs as there is very little par from this type bulb.

I bought all my lamps from Aquarium Specialty
 
MadKat, sadly i am running a 4 bulb wavepoint that takes up ever inch of my 55g top, so i think i am going to do 3 blue and 1 12k ATI

and hope i like the colors !
 
This is what I ran when I had 4 bulbs. It's not as blue as you would think, but if it's too blue for your taste, you can move the 12K bulb up one slot.

i like both but I think I get a little more parr and blue color from the ati. I currently run all ati in the below config front to back

blue +
pro color
blue +
aquablue special
blue +
aquablue special

I would like a little more blue but you have seen my tank, I will be adding about 100 leds this week so we'll see how it looks after that.
 
Chris I know what you run, I have been over there 3 times for at least a he per visit, thanks by the way

Going with the ati 3:1 blue to 12k - let I guys know what I think we they ge here
