T5 cooling/adding sand raised my temp

I am having trouble finding a solid answer on t5 cooling. How would I cool my t5 retro as far as fan placement goes ? Also I just added sand to my aquarium and I have noticed a rise in temperature is that possible ?

Not sure but I know that a tank with sand is brighter then a bare bottom tank. Could be that the light is reflecting off the sand and making ur take alittle hotter. I wouldn't think it would raise it to much tho.

Idealy, you want the label end of the bulb cooler. So draw air out of the canopy, horizontal airflow end to end if you could. And put the label end where the cool air comes in.Can't remember where I read that but I'm 100% positive. Either grim's website or the instructions on my current nep fixture.

But the temps are up even at night like 81 or 82 ish when they used to sit at 78 or 79 . Useful that sounds like a good idea
