here are two shots of my digitata. Things took some time to get back to normal after the crash, it's starting to kick in again!

Great Pics, NewSchool04! and great info! My eyes got blurry after the first hour of reading and i didn't notice if anyone is using Tek light on a 72g bow front.
The 4 or 6 bulb one
The tank ends are about 12" on the ends and 17" center any recommendations on which one would be best without too much light shining out of the tank?
the tank is 48"x 20"+/- deep.

Thanks.

Thanks, D-Rod!
How are you planning to mount them? I think you could def get away with a 6 bulb set up if you hung them, they would look great. The leg brackets are about 9" long, so you could use them but your lights will be a little towards the back. Probably not noticible.

I switched a couple of months ago to:

Front:
Blue +
Aquablue plus
Blue +
GE
Aquablue plus
Blue +

I'm thinking about getting a UV Super Actinic but really have't been impressed with the reviews on the bulb. I'm do for a change out so I might just add one for a test.

I've got a couple and I'm not overly impressed with them. I think having two of them with a six bulb setup is getting washed out by the blue+ and aquablues. In my opinion, unless your going to go with about half SA, it's not worth it to me.

I notice a lot of people using the blue+. Are you referring to the actinic/blue+ from Giesemann? I've been using:
pure actinic
GE 6500
Aquablue plus 11000k
pure actinic

Is there any reason why people are using the blue+ over pure actinic? I would think the pure actinic would fluoresce more.

The newer bulbs just say Blue + on them.
The full-actinics do fluoresce more on some colors/corals. But the blue plus fluoresce pretty good too.
The blue plus give a more... blue look; which many of us find preferable to pink/purple.
The blue plus give a good amount of PAR (photosynthetic available radiance = make plants grow stuff) just on their own. The actinics provide little PAR.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your bulb choice.

D-Rod,

I have the 72g bow and I went with the 5 bulb Aquactinics setup. The Tek 6 bulb is 15" wide, so you'll have it hanging over your corners. The 4 bulb is what most people use if they want to go Tek (or so I'm told). Aquactinics is a RC supporter and have a forum here if you want to talk to them. I've had the fixture for 1 week, so I can't comment much except it seems well built, has an acrylic shield and 2 power cords for sunrise/sunset timing. Costs $310 if I remember correctly.

Not to rain on the parade, but it seems that some of those before and after pics don't quite match up

LMK if you want some. I'll send you a frag of it. I have plenty to spare LOL.

More PAR and more blue! Then, I may be trading my actinics. I'm getting noticable growth and my tank is a bright white, but I'd like just a little more blue. Also the blue+ is $5 less per tube.

Yeah, what exactly DOES that mean?

Haha, just pulling your chain :D . It seems your growth rates have been amazing. I may have to reconsider my stance on T5's.

There has been growth since these photos, but I don't have any new pictures.....

My Acro has been growing quite well too, It's completely encrusted it's rock and has lot's of new growth.

T5 HO is a great light source in my experience, I will be using them on my next tanks also. :D

Good thread. Any more growth pics? I get my Sunpower ATI ficture for my 20 in a few days. Aside from using quality T5s what are the husbandry habits of the users that have posted pics here?

Thought I'd resurrect this thread from the dead.
4x24 Supower-2 blue plus,1 Fiji purple,1 ATI actinic.
