It's not a combo Downdraft but thanks anyways! I have a 75 w/ T5 and a 30 gallon w/ MH. They are plumbed together and use the same sump, just different lighting on both tanks.

I notice you have a lot of GSP....does it bother the SPS at all??

Also do you think ZEO makes a huge difference...how long have you been running the zeo system??

Thanks for the kind words

I'v been following the Iwan method for a while - 5 months followed by 3 months on pure zeovit - yes I think its a great system. I was skeptical at first , but it works well for me.

I recently changed to 12 T5s and the effect is even better.

That pic is an month old so when I get the camera working I'll post up what 12 can do.

I use MH and T5 lighting on two different, separately plumbed reef tanks. (250w DE 14K and 8x54w).
I can't make a direct comparison, but the T5s are definitely bright, and they seem to be doing their job of growing some corals.

GSP are a PITA when it comes to SPS, so I do need to 'cut the grass' arround the bases periodicaly. On the other hand, and sps dominated tank can look quite static even with 48x turnover, so I like having it arround to show the movement generated by the wavebox. GSP swaying in the flow is often what non reefers comment first when they see the tank.

Elsewhere in the tank there are a couple of fileds of pulse coral, which also needs mowing periodically, but again I like them for the sense of movement they give.

You can see in the pics on the edge of the monti caps like they are trying to grow away from the GSP's...not necessarily a bad thing really....

i like the idea....when i get my SPS grown out i might throw some xenia in there for the movement and waving....they arent noxious but they might not even grow in my sterile *** tank

I've recently seen a tank with tons of xenia, LPS and SPS. The xenia doesnt bother anything....all though it can shade small SPS. Funny how most none reefer would notice the pulsing xenia first before all the colorful SPS.....huh...you mean there not just painted rocks...haha.
