T5 question

Im starting to look into lighting for the new setup. I plan on keeping some SPS. How many lamps will I need for a 40b. Tank size is 36x18x17.

Another option I am thinking about would be a dual 150w mh setup.

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

4 would probably be sufficient but I would go with a 6 bulb unit for better bulb combinations and spread.

Not to push you in a different direction, but have you considered LEDs? It would save you lots of money on bulb replacement and electricity costs. But for t5 I would also recommend 6 bulbs with good reflectors.

6 bulb is my vote to. It will give you better color options. ghellin is th eresident LED guru, which is a very valid option. Good reflectors and bulbs are a must
