T5 raising water temperature

After I installed 6 bulb ATI sunpower T5 with reefbrite xho, y water temperature has risen to 80F from 78F
I hang the light about 6" from the edge of the top tank. My tank is 20" deep.

Is it normal that T5 raises water temperature? Is there anything I am doing wrong here? Help?

Sounds normal to me... The VHO's I used to have would heat up the water too. T5's are basically the same thing only in a smaller package.

Just an update. I raised the height to 8.5" yesterday morning and when I came home at night, the temperature stays around 78. I think the height adjustment solved the issue. Thanks everyone.

This is why I still use glass covers. I just clean them when I notice they are dirty, about once every 3-4 months. It does not affect growth or color, nor temperature.

maybe because you have a sump. that is why your glass cover does not greatly effect the water temperature. Mine is all in one tank. Solid glass cover will greatly impact water temperature and gas exchange.

Yes, it will impact temperature and gas exchange, if you don't have a sump. I do, and I would never run a tank without one.
