T5 Tek Light Legs??

Wondering if anybody has made their own legs for the SLS Tek T5 lights... 60 - 80 dollars for a couple small pieces of bent metal is alot IMO. I really don't feel like hanging it from my ceiling as it would be an eyesore.

When I ordered my Tek lights from Drs. Foster and Smith they told me I could just set the fixture on top of my tank. Won't that melt the plastic center brace and cause the reflectors to get dirty extremely fast? I have a glass top sitting in the garage but I don't feel like using it unless I have to.

I made my legs using 2 x 4's. I cut them to the width of the tank (18 inches) and painted them black. I can slide the hoods back to access the tank, and it cost me less than $3.00.

that sounds like it could work... i haven't recieved the lights in the mail yet so i can't picture it very easily. but i do have some 2 x 4's in the garage that would work great. any chance you could send a pic? thanks alot :)
