I have 2x54 48" T5's for sale, one Geissman Aquablue+ and one Actinic+ with reflectors, and Workhorse 5 ballast. One dual endcap, both standoffs. You can get the other endcap for $7 at the critter. I paid $155 at the critter for the entire setup a couple weeks ago, decided to go all LED instead. Will sell for $100 OBO.

Is this all LED over your 110g reef? Is that sps dominated?

I have 3x250 metal halides (Phoenix 14k's) with LumenMax Elite reflectors; the LED will be used as purely actinic / color supplementation. Yes, the tank is going to be SPS dominate. Each Reef Brite LED bar produces the same PAR as 2 ATI Blue+ T5's with reflectors (of equivalent length, in this case, 48"). I have to say, the color is amazing.

Gotcha. The actinic supplementation with LEDs is pretty incredible. However, all I seem to find are LEDs that can run over a small tank, or provide supplementation. I had hoped for a moment that you were going to have only LEDs over your tank.

************ is full of LED updates, but does anyone know what the current state is as far as running an sps tank *solely* on LEDs?

You can very easily run SPS solely with LEDs.

I will be soon trying to proving this. ;) Although others already have.

Check out Soundwave's thread on here. He isn't even using lenses and his tank is doing absolutely awesome. He has a youtube video of a year after putting LEDs on his tank, too.

Good stuff! I personally believe that within 5 years, many (if not most) tanks will be on LEDs, especially as the technology gets cheaper and continues to advance.

There have been many proof of concept tanks, the video Brandon provided below is one good example. I'm waiting to see how Brandon's light does on his office tank with SPS. If all looks good I'm going to light half my 110 with LED's as a test. If I am happy with the results, I very well may convert my entire setup to LED only in a few months. It will be very cool to be able to use my Apex to do a true sunrise /sunset.

FWIW, that tank doesn't really have any hardcore SPS if you will, however you must also note that tank does not have any optics, either. Optics will make a HUGE difference in the output of the fixture.

I found a recent example.

With just 60 degree optics on this guys fixture, his PAR readings went from 320 to over 900 at 12 inches. That's just about 300% increase. :)
